The Armory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, but it hasn’t been in official use since. The 200,000 square foot reproduction Moorish Castle was completed in 1914 and used as a National Guard facility until 1976. Period details include wainscoting, stone staircases, sweeping corridors, cavernous access to Mission Creek and a gigantic Drill Court spanning almost an acre. The location was used by George Lucas to film the first Star Wars movie. Now the Drill Court in the Armory building can be rented out for community uses and events.

The Drill Court is the most exciting multi-purpose event space in San Francisco. Reputed to be the largest unsupported enclosed volume in San Francisco, featuring a dramatic exposed roof structure composed of curved steel open-web trusses. The venue is 40,000 square foot with an occupancy of 4,000 people and an 80 foot high dome ceiling. Hosting corporate events, concerts, sporting events and markets, this space is a blank canvas.

This historic building is located in the ever-evolving Mission and South of Mission Districts, and central to city transportation, hotels and convention spaces.

Global Gourmet Catering is proud to be a preferred catering services provider for this amazing venue!
