Elegantly restored, San Francisco’s City Hall is a fabulous showcase with rich history and rooms like no other venue in the city. The amazing detail of the architecture and the craftsmanship make City Hall the crown jewel of San Francisco.
The ideal venue for a beautiful wedding, City Hall’s exquisite architectural details cast a sense of grandeur over any ceremony, no matter the size. Stunning lighting accents play off the carvings that punctuate the Rotunda’s marble walls. The large marble staircase features landings that function as stages for elegant ceremonies and live music.
Guests can be seated on the main floor or can view the proceedings from the second level balconies. The North Light Court features beautiful design including a skylight that runs the expanse of the ceiling, as does the South Light Court. With their breathtaking architecture, the Fourth Floor Galleries offer striking venues for smaller weddings and receptions.
Seated (including second floor): (652). Reception: (1,300). The main floor is roughly 75’ square. Marble floors, stone and glass walls and plaster dome comprise the room’s surfaces. The Grand Staircase landing is 4’0” above the Main Floor level and is 4’6” deep and 20’0” wide.
Seated: (435). Reception: (870). Approximately 122’6” x 57’5” clear floor area with 19’ to 22’ ceilings. The north walls are occupied by free standing historic counters. Marble floors, area rugs, stone and glass walls and a glass skylight ceiling make up the room’s surfaces.
South Light Court
Seated: (420). Reception: (840). Approximately 122’6” x 57’05” gross floor area with 19’ to 22’ ceilings. A glass skylight comprises the ceiling, while other room surfaces consist of marble floors, wall to wall carpet and stone and glass walls.

Special Note: Maximum occupant load for standing receptions is 3,014 persons. Events with occupant loads exceeding the maximum will require Fire Department approval and/or Fire Inspection standby during event.
