For all of you racing enthusiasts, you will be pleased to know that we recently catered the championship celebration for the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma in the Verizon IndyCar Series. The event was held at the beautiful Nob Hill Masonic where the evening started with a lovely reception for 500 guests followed by the award ceremony where the champions were honored.
As the fourth year in a row that the Verizon IndyCar Series Championship was contested in California, it was the first time it took place at Sonoma Raceway. The champion, Scott Dixon, was presented with a $1 million championship bonus check, a replica of the Verizon IndyCar Series Championship Trophy known as the Astor Challenge Cup, and the Jostens Champions ring valued at $10,000. He also received the Sunoco Diamond Performance Award and its $75,000 prize for winning the most races.
At the reception, we provided some of our signature dishes at three race-inspired food stations. First was the Shanghai International Circuit which featured Five-Spiced Chicken and Hoisin-Glazed Portobello Mushroom Housemade Chinese “Dumplings.”
For a unique and fun gastronomic experience, the Laguna Seca “Sundae” station served up our signature savory sundae creations.
Last but not least was our Twin Ring Motegi Sushi Hand Roll station. Fresh Kappa, Poached Prawn, Spider Rolls and more were delicately put together and hand rolled by professional sushi chefs.
For a light snack, guests were invited to help themselves at the salad display which featured porcelain bowls of Nine-Grain Kale Salad.
We also provided a fully stocked bar where our mixologists served up anything and everything, including one of our specialty cocktails, The Brickyard. This smooth and sweet vodka mixture brings together the flavors of cucumber, basil, ginger and lime for a refreshing and tasty beverage.
This was a fun event to be a part of with the racing world’s elite. We left that night with only one question on our minds: “How did they get that racecar on the stage?”
