Exposed brick walls lend to a speakeasy vibe; art deco-inspired installations shine throughout, and performers sway gracefully from the ceiling. Uniquely engaging details paired with cutting-edge tech set the scene at The Great Northern, one of San Francisco’s newest club venues. We had the honor of hosting our industry partners for a party at the new space as its preferred catering partner.

Our friends from the industry matched our excitement about the potential of this venue. As guests congregated between two massive, gorgeous bars our servers circled the room with inventive hors d’oeuvres and mini plates. The Golden Gate Dolls, The Great Northern’s in-house cirque performance team, wowed with aerialist, acrobat and contortionist routines between DJ sets.

Tucked away behind a plain brick facade in San Francisco’s Design District, The Great Northern was purpose-built for entertainment. The space features 30-foot ceilings, Void audio gear, an impressive DJ booth and a state-of-the-art custom relief wall for projection mapping. The interior was designed by the One Hat One Hand team responsible for major installations like Outside Lands’ signature windmill; it’s a one-of-a-kind venue with serious style built in.

We started our party by the first bar, established under a striking stained glass window (which also features animation capabilities). Signature cocktails like The Rave Lord and One More paired with fun bar bites, including an interpretation of “Ham and Eggs” with Caviar and Ham Gelée served in eggshells. Special thanks to our friends at Standard Party Rentals for providing everything we needed for service.

Once the first bar filled up a wall of velvet curtains rose and guests spilled onto the club’s main floor. DJ Motion Potion manned the decks all evening; we didn’t turn the sound up enough to test the system but we did see some planners tapping their toes!

Introducing our industry partners to innovative clubs like The Great Northern isn’t just fun, these spaces can be incredible venues for corporate and private affairs. They offer a change of pace and built-in entertainment. We also love opportunities to tease the latest creations from our kitchen, like the wood-fired small plates we served from our new mobile pizza ovens. Stay tuned for more excitement cooked up by the Global Gourmet Catering & Events team.
