There is so much to know and so many questions to ask when planning your wedding and we’re here to help you with that. We are starting a new segment on our blog where our Director of Weddings and wedding expert, Cheryl Fleming, answers some of your most frequently asked questions.
“As caterers, we do much more than just provide food for your wedding. The food service at any event helps to determine the budget, flow and timeline of the event. Your caterer also often works closely with your other vendors, beginning with the planning process all the way through the day of your event. Since the caterer is such an integral part of your wedding, it’s important to understand everything they are able to provide.”
Q: How soon in advance should we plan to book the caterer for our wedding?
A: The short answer: as soon as your venue is booked. Clients typically book wedding caterers 6 to 12 months before the date of their wedding in order to lock in the vendor and have plenty of time to discuss the menu. It is possible to book your caterer with less time, but the sooner you start planning, the more likely that your preferred caterer will be available. If you are planning a wedding rather quickly, it is possible to get the menu ready in as little as several weeks. However, the more time you can allow for the catering company to work on your menu and provide you with tastings, the better.
