We are coming up on the one year anniversary of one of our favorite couples, Angela Chang and Christopher Chick who married on March 30, 2014 at the Flood Mansion. From the start, this was unique in menu and event planning because Angela’s vivacious sister, Tina, who lives in Texas, stepped in to help and we didn’t meet groom Christopher until his wedding day.
Of the 70 wedding guests, most were flying in from out of state (a large majority from Texas) so Angela and Tina wanted to make sure to really show guests what San Francisco is all about. They selected the perfect venue with the Flood Mansion’s sweeping views of the city and our iconic Golden Gate Bridge. On their wedding day, even the weather contributed to perfection by staying clear during the ceremony, but lightly sprinkling during cocktail hour – just enough to cast a breathtaking rainbow over the city for Angela and Christopher to take photos in front of.
This was the first time I have ever experienced a Chinese Dragon Dance at a wedding and it gave me chills! The sound vibrating off the marble floors in the mansion and the meaning of giving the couple good luck in their marriage really set the tone for the entire evening, which included an amazing family band that performed for the reception.
For their wedding menu, we started with a true San Francisco treat, a mini sourdough bread bowl filled with hot clam chowder. Then guests were invited into a room of catered food stations that included a Wine Country station with lamb and local veggies.
Our pastry chef, James McCann, created a classic three tier wedding cake filled with Amaretto Cake, Toasted Almond Butter Cream and Cherry Preserves. Although we didn’t meet Christopher before the wedding, we heard all about his love for chocolate, so Chef McCann also made flourless chocolate bombs that guests enjoyed.we
The night was magical and we were excited when we returned to work and had special packages sent to us from Tina…a true Texas pecan pie, candied pecans and, of course, a Texas state flag.
Here is a highlight clip posted on Vimeo from their wedding so you can witness a glimpse into their beautiful day. Cheers to one year down and many more to come!
