What better way to celebrate a gorgeous San Francisco day than by soaking up the sunshine and giving back to the community. We recently volunteered with the great organization, Community Grows, to help make Lower Haight’s Koshland Garden shine.
Here are some quick facts about our fun day of volunteering for this wonderful cause:
- Community Grows helps grow gardens in low-income and diverse communities and even teaches gardening, cooking and healthy living to the youth of San Francisco.
- We spent the day having a great time with other volunteers and BEETS (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens) while weeding, mulching and picking up trash.
- Koshland Park Community Learning Garden is one of six gardens maintained by Community Grows and was built in 1994 in response to the crime in the area as a way to educate the youth of the community in healthy living and to provide a peaceful oasis.
The Koshland Garden is truly a hidden gem and we recommend you check it out. Tell them that Global Gourmet Catering sent you!
