Smiling faces, a happy couple, and an open bar… what’s not to love about weddings? As it turns out, we didn’t have an actual wedding to go to in the middle of the week so we were part of the next best thing. The Big Fake Wedding is an alternative bridal show for brides-and-grooms-to-be and includes a beautiful vow-renewal ceremony, tasty bites and beverages, vendor exhibits, a dance party and more. It was a busy, energetic event at the General’s Residence at Fort Mason Center and our whole team did a wonderful job of keeping up with the pace of the night.
For our part, we provided a savory station where our chefs served up warm bowls of Shrimp and Grits with Rock Shrimp and Andouille Etouffée, a brightly colored Summer Salad, and the most intriguing dish of the night (in our humble opinion) – Horseradish Cured Wild Salmon with Cucumber Dill Crème Fraiche and Beet Ice frozen in Liquid Nitrogen right before the everyone’s eyes.
No dish is complete without a beverage to pair perfectly with it. Global Gourmet’s mixologists created two signature cocktails to compliment our savory station: the Summer Swirl with Vodka, Fresh Lemonade and Rosemary and The Southern Gentleman which is a perfect combination of Bourbon, Black Tea, and Brown Sugar Syrup.
At the reception, everyone boogied the night away on a dance floor covered in neon lights to popular hits of the day with a few classics thrown in for good measure. In addition to sampling our savory fare and all of the sweet, tasty treats placed around the room, the couples also had poems written about them right on the spot, struck a pose in the photo booth, and created fun, slow-motion videos complete with props and confetti raining down on them. It was great to see the future brides and grooms getting a sample of the fun they will have on their big day!
